The Filipino Community Center (FCC) proudly celebrates its five year anniversary on January 29th, 2010 with the theme Bagong Taon! Bagong Tinig!: New Year! New Voice! The dinner celebration and fundraiser will take place at the Croatian American Cultural Center at 60 Onondaga Ave., in the heart of the Filipino-concentrated Excelsior neighborhood of San Francisco.

As of January 2010, all 300 boxes of donations were successfully received in the Philippines by Migrante International, and they are in the process of sorting and giving the donations to families most affected by the disasters.

On January 5th, 2010 FCC staff and youth from the Kabataan program marched with Local 2 Hotel Union members in their fight for a fair contract.

On December 7th, the Bay Area Bayanihan for Philippine Disaster Relief successfully shipped approximately 250 boxes of people’s relief to kababayans in the Philippines.

The FCC Celebrates its 5 Year Anniversary on January 29th, 2010 with dinner, dance, and silent auction to raise funds for its future endeavors.

On Tuesday, December 8, the FCC celebrated the joy of the holiday season and birthdays of special people amongst family, friends, and the community.

In just 2 months time, Bay Area grassroots organizations raised almost $20,000 and collected more than 300 boxes of clothing, food, medical, and school supplies for victims of Typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng in the Philippines.

The SanDiwa National Alliance of Fil-Am Youth extends its strongest solidarity with the protests led by students of the University of California system. The University of California Board of Regents committee just recently approved a series of controversial increases in student fees that will raise UC undergraduate education costs by 32% by Fall 2010.

The Filipino Community Center firmly supports the 9,000 hotel workers in San Francisco struggling for union standards, fair wages, and affordable health care. Local 2 recently called for a three day strike to shed light on the workers’ struggle for fair working conditions in the hotel industry, which employs a large number of Filipinos.

From East to West Coast, the National Alliance for Filipino Concerns (NAFCON) in the United States can finally send the 800 balikbayan boxes full of donations for typhoon victims in the Philippines...

Washington, D.C.—In the spirit of Filipino American History Month which gives visibility to Philippine culture, history, and issues, the National Alliance for Filipino Concerns (NAFCON-US) convened 18 Filipino community organizations to participate in their annual conference, council meeting, and lobby day from October 24-26, 2009.

The National Alliance For Filipino Concerns (NAFCON–US) Mobilizes 18 Filipino Community Organizations at the Philippine Embassy, Washington DC to Protest GMA’s Directives on Typhoon Ondoy Relief and State Sanctioned Human Rights Violations in the Philippines.

You are invited to join us for a Filipino Community Convening to discuss the City of San Francisco's relief donation to the victims of the recent Typhoons in the Philippines. The meeting will take place at the Filipino Community Center (FCC) 4681 Mission Street, SF, CA 94112 next Friday, October 30th, 2009, 12noon-1pm.

FCC volunteers and staff continue Typhoon Ondoy and Pepeng relief work. At the moment, we have received plenty of clothes but need much more medical supplies, food, and 20/20 boxes to send the items back in. We greatly appreciate the many community members of all ages who have been working here daily to sort through and organize donations.

On Saturday September 26th, Typhoon Ondoy hit Manila creating the worst flooding in over four decades. The waters reached up to 20 feet high and submerged 80% of the city. The typhoon also hit 25 other areas, Marakina being the hardest hit. In an attempt to survive, many families climbed on top of their roofs and were stranded for the weekend.
